King Smelly Feet

Hiawyn Oram's exuberant story tells of a time when there were no shoes and a King who wouldn't wash his feet. Increasingly bizarre attempts are made to cure the King of his hygiene problems, until a happy solution unfolds.

Based loosely on an ancient Indian tale, this book was an opportunity to throw myself into an irreverent world of turbans, palanquins and peacocks.

"This funny story has plenty of the insults children love, including
pong-soles, wifferfeet and stinkitoes." - Wordpool
